The world is going through one of the worst time in recent history. We all have been masked up and locked insides. We all are distanced ourselves from our family, friends and colleagues.

Some of you may have returned to normal. Some of you can now go back to your favourite pub on Friday night. Or watch a movie in a theater. At least wearing a mask, some of you may go out.

But things are getting worst here where I live, in Sri Lanka. We have been under lockdown for nearly a month now. The country is facing the third wave of the pandemic and the worst so far. Nearly 3000 people are catching the virus every single day while almost 40–50 of them are losing their lives. Looking back to the first wave, we have done better, in fact, one of the best, to limit the confirmed cases under 1000. The second wave came from India and spread mostly across the country’s apparel garments and the fish markets. The impact on society was minimal. Well, at least when compared to other countries. But the third wave has completely shut down the whole country and the economic. The lockdown period has extended by a week while I was writing this.

Some people have lost their jobs. Some of them have even nothing to eat. The government is giving away food and money to those who are…
